Comprehensive Repair Support for Tires, Wheels and Brakes

VSE Aviation (formerly Aero Wheel & Brake) and its subsidiary Rotable Repairs, offer customers a full spectrum of repair services for tires, wheels, and brakes.

Our Approach

At VSE Aviation, our network of specialized engineers provides Designated Engineering Representative (DER) and Repair Specification (RS) services. A DER repair process meets rigorous development, performance, reliability, and safety standards, validated and certified by an FAA-authorized DER.

VSE’s approach to DER repairs is centered on delivering exceptional value to our customers. By engineering repairs as cost-effective alternatives to component replacements, we significantly reduce ownership costs while maintaining the highest quality standards.

VSE Aviation delivers custom repairs with superior quality and enhanced reliability, often surpassing the original OEM specifications. Our Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) and DER services include:

  • Comprehensive overhaul of commercial, regional, business, and turboprop wheels and brakes
  • Advanced coatings and cold nano fusion welds
  • Precision machining to restore parts from Beyond Economical Repair (BER) to serviceable condition (SV)

Our Services

We offer the following aircraft wheel & brake services for our customers:

Our Process
When your wheel or brake assembly arrives at our facility, it is assigned a work traveler for complete traceability. Our process includes:

  • Visual & NDT Inspections: Comprehensive visual inspections, followed by advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods—Eddy Current, Magnetic Particle, or Liquid Penetrant—based on the work scope.

  • Component Preparation: Defects or corrosion are removed or repaired when possible. Metal surfaces receive fresh treatments, and all hardware (bolts, nuts, keys) is inspected using magnetic particle or dye penetrant methods.

  • Protective Coatings: Application of high-quality epoxy primers and polyurethane paints in our state-of-the-art paint booth. Military-spec coatings are available upon request.

  • Reassembly & Testing:

    • Wheels are reassembled with fresh tires, inflated, leak-checked, and balanced to spec.

    • Brakes are reassembled, pressure-tested, and undergo final inspection.

Sustainable Practices
Our facility uses environmentally responsible technologies, including Plastic Reclaimable Abrasive Media (PRAM), to clean and strip components without harsh chemicals—protecting both your parts and the environment.

Delivery Options
Assemblies are packaged and shipped per your requirements, with free local delivery available.
